Fool 04:14
I’m stuck on the wrong side of a train Trying to get home to see my baby again I’m stuck on the wrong side of a train Trying to get home to see my baby again But, all the bridges around town Have burned to the ground I’ve got no other way Now I’m sitting alone out in the rain Hoping my lover will give me some cover again I’m sitting alone out in the rain Hoping my lover will give me some cover again But, with all the damage that I’ve done Lord I hope she doesn’t run To some other man Cause I thought that - she don’t really mean What she says to me - when she says to me Says she’ll really leave No - she don’t really mean - what she says to me When she says to me - says she’ll really leave How could I be such a fool Deaf, dumb and blind so many times What’ll I do if she leaves me High and dry - begging, down on my knees Lord what’ll I do if she leaves me High and dry - begging, down on my knees Lord, what would I do If I were to lose a hummingbird like you I apologize for all the many times I was not kind to you and left you feeling blue I did not realize - my words like a knife Cut you deep inside - left scars that you can’t hide Oh Lord I’ve been a fool Deaf, dumb and blind so many times

You are the wind that’s carried me Out of the hills and into the city Up in the clouds you’re breezes blow And as they rise and fall I will follow Wherever you go, wherever you go You are the sea that’s swallowed me I was lost, I was lost in the deep Then out of the depths your tides flow And as they rise and fall I will follow Wherever you go, wherever you go Wherever you go Wherever you go You’ve got a hand to hold Wherever you go You’re my desire for what’s unknown Baby you’re the very reason I keep hanging on And as the mysteries unfold You’ve got a hand to hold Wherever you go, wherever you go, wherever you go

Hold On 04:40
I can feel it deep in my bones And I know in my heart I will soon be home Holding on to the words you said Gives me the strength to get out of my bed When the heavy burdens of a worried mind Are weighing me down and wasting my time Well I say no more - no more Cause I’ve had enough of that kind of life It’s not what I’m here for - So I will hold on to you I will hold on to you I will hold on to you Will you hold on to me? Yes, I will hold on to you Tell me - will you hold on to me? Looking around, all the folks I see Are broke down and living in misery For too many years that has been my home Living in fear and feeling so alone Praying for mercy...haven’t I paid my dues Looking for a love that might pull me through I feel the earth crying out for you And I hear the heavens joining the tune So I say no more - no more Cause I’ve had enough of that kind of life It’s not what I’m here for -

Torn into pieces And lost in the swell Sailing for the promised land Our ship was wrecked in Hell We cower and crawl In the hold of our craft With darkened eyes, failing pride Set out to sink us fast But, in the distance a beacon Burns above the waves Do not fear, for I am here The voice called through the haze Your words to hold as light goes dim And “miles to go, before we sleep again” Your words can tame the wind And give us hope that we’ll see home again Branded by sorrow Under cloaks of despair Surly clouds roll over us And leave our souls laid bare But, in the distance a beacon Burns above the waves Rise up, return to me The voice called through the haze
5.
You’re talking to me In my sleep - for hours Guiding my dreams In real time, devoured Televise - all of my fears And hot on my chest are your tears In time, love, a matter of time, love Hold on tight, love We’ll weather the night We will weather the night Red sky at dawn, we carry on Into the heart of the storm With the midnight hour Come rising tides And pouring tears stream from your eyes The sun will rise...
6.
Lush 03:47
I was beaten down - kicked on the ground Drug through the mud - now I’m covered in blood And the woman I got - she ain’t happy a lot It seems the jams we get in - are because of my sins See, I’m a lush with my wine - I want her all the time For just the little bit - she helps me forget She helps me forget - she helps me forget Lord, take it off of me - this weight off of me This burden on my shoulders - before I get any older Lord, take it off of me - this weight off of me She’s forgiven me time and again - but, there comes a point when A line must be drawn - and she lays down the law She accepted my faults, but wasted I crawled Until I lost control and our children were told That I’m a slave to my sins - I fall again and again Thinking the works of my hands might save my skin They might save my skin - they might save my skin
7.
In Too Deep 04:04
No more second chances No more excuses to get in the way Let go of expectations It’s time to say what you need to say When you’re in too deep And you just feel like giving up Do not fear, do not fear You are not alone Pull the drapes and let the light in Open the windows, open the door Push past the hesitation It’s time to get your feet on the floor Don’t you ever give up You’re not alone -
8.
Monuments crumble in the blink of an eye The easy river has just run dry In a house of cards, I fear the breeze Wound so tight, I can barely breathe Oh, the chains Whoa - the chains Oh, the chains Release me from the chains I’m gonna shake the dust right off of my feet And I will keep on moving, because my heart still beats I believe the sun - is gonna rise again And oh Lord I thank you - for all of my friends The door swings wide An angel leads me to the other side Oh, the chains Release me from the chains I’ll take the road ahead one day at a time And I will trust in the Lord to be my guide You can knock me down right off of my feet But, I will never give up on my dreams Link by link these shackles hold A heart that beats for freedom Lord Come release me - release me from the chains
9.
Somebody told me - I’m wasting away The life I was given - on things that don’t pay Somebody told me - told me my dreams Will never amount - amount to a thing But, I’ll keep chasing the demons out of the shadows And singing out loud - for everyone to hear It’s all I can do - We’re in a valley of dry bones Oh breath, from the four winds blow Fill our lungs and give us hope We are the dreamers not the foe We live for today and then we’ll go Where the heart leads - tomorrow Prophets proclaim - “It’s time to move on” Start a family - build a home Others, they say - they say we should stay Stay in the lines we draw everyday But we keep running in circles and losing our patience We’re trapped in a maze - confined, sedated Will we ever see - what we’re meant to be? We are the dreamers - dream on
10.
Take Me Home 04:02
Nostalgic sounds fill hollow spaces Where withered dreams and haunted faces Dissolve in liquour They are grasping for amazing graces But, her tender words will not be wasted If not deserved In betrayal of what she’s really missing A cold shoulder is what she’s giving To fend off the hurt But, she opens a door, he garners attention And hours are swallowed in conversation Now she wants to go - Home - take me home Take me tonight Home - take me home Take me home, tonight As the waves roll in, she’s overtaken And shame is all we wear when naked Our secrets exposed Try as she might, she just can’t hide it He knows desire, she doesn’t fight it Cause she wants to go -

about

Heavy seas // stormy nights // despair in the wake of loss //
sinking notions of control and security.

Then hope // hope for the dawn // when light disperses the darkness and our spirit is renewed by joy -

Taming The Wind is Blount’s debut full-length official release and follows his 2011 EP I Believe In Love. The ten-song album was produced by Blount and recorded in The Magic City - Birmingham, AL. On making the album, Blount notes, “my desire is to create well crafted songs – where honesty and genuine emotions dance over simple melodies.” Inspiration for the album was drawn from the lives of those around him – friends and loved ones struggling with “life and everything that comes with it – the pain of loss, addictions, illness, and depression. We have a choice in how we respond to these challenges - there is always hope for better days - and we have the opportunity to comfort and encourage each other as we live through these experiences together.” He adds, “my hope is that these songs will connect with you – and play a positive part in the story of your life.”
